FSP

FSP is a Taiwanese power supply and system electronics manufacturer known for its efficient PSUs, power solutions and fanless designs. In South Africa it is offered via authorized resellers, with warranty and repairs managed through the point of sale.

Introduction to FSP

Founded in 1993, FSP (Fortron Source Power) has grown into a recognized name in power supply units (PSUs), power electronics and computing accessories. In 2003, the company began building its own brand identity, emphasizing high quality, innovation and after-sales support. Over the years, FSP has developed signature product lines such as the high-efficiency Aurum series and low-noise/fanless Zen series.

Core Business & Technical Strengths

FSP's competitive advantages revolve around:

• A strong in-house R&D engine that keeps pace with evolving power architectures and component standards.
• Large manufacturing scale and quality assurance systems to maintain reliability across product lines.
• Focus on efficiency (80 PLUS Gold, Platinum ratings), thermal management, modular design and silent operation in its higher end models.
• Commitment to evolving with market demand in form factors, digital control, cable management and system integration.

Product Portfolio & Usage Focus

FSP produces several categories of products, especially for computing and related power systems:

• Power supply units (ATX, modular, high wattage, efficiency rated)
• Fanless and low noise power units suited to HTPC, industrial or silent systems
• Power bricks and adapters for laptops, monitors or peripherals
• Accessories and components related to power distribution and cooling

The Aurum series targets high efficiency and reliability for power-sensitive and performance systems, while the Zen (fanless) series is geared for quiet, low-noise or passive cooling scenarios.

Buying & Support in South Africa

Authorized resale & warranty

In South Africa, FSP is sold via authorized resellers. Buyers should confirm that the reseller is legitimate and that the unit includes valid local warranty. Warranty support is bound to the original point of sale, not transferrable among different stores.

Repairs & returns

If a product requires repair, return it to the original retailer. Other stores will not typically assume repair responsibility under warranty. Always verify the repair process, timeframes and shipping terms prior to purchasing.

Product choice tips

Select a product that matches your system's wattage needs, efficiency goals, cooling expectations and modularity preferences. For quiet systems, the fanless or low noise units are ideal, but ensure your airflow and ambient temperatures are suitable. For performance systems, lean toward higher efficiency and headroom above your maximum load.

Reputation & Opinion Summary

FSP is respected in computing and power supply circles for combining solid reliability, efficiency and thoughtful product design. While not always positioned as premium as some elite PSU brands, FSP offers strong value especially for users emphasizing efficiency and near-silent operation. For South African buyers, its practical appeal depends significantly on local support, supplier integrity and warranty clarity. It is recommended to buy FSP from ComX Computers for peace of mind.
