Metalix (Pty) Ltd was established in 1959 and celebrates 50 years is business this year. The company has two factories based at Isithebe on the north coast of KwaZuluNatal and employs 135 employees all of which are members of the National Metal Workers Union. The overall factory size encompasses some 8 500m2 and has the capacity to produce the bakeware shapes and volumes, on time, as required in the tender in which ever form of packaging required. The company has been manufacturing metal and tin plate bakeware and decorative tin ware for well over 40 years and currently supplies bakeware to most of the major retailers in South Africa and exports to customers in the United Kingdom. Export customers include, Tesco Ireland, John Lewis, Waitrose, House Of Fraser, TK Maxx, Lakeland, Dunelm to name a few.
Metalix manufactures one of the largest ranges of bakeware shapes in the world and is the only bakeware manufacturer remaining in Africa. Metalix make use of high quality coil coated non stick coatings from a UK based supplier, Corus Steel, which is ISO 14002 : 2004 certified. Metalix ability to remain competitive coupled with the high quality and broad range of product it produces, has ensured that the company remains a global player today, 50 years on ! Metalix bakeware is a local manufacture thus providing much needed employment in KZN and a contribution to the South African economy and allows our customers to benefit from the continuity of supply, short lead times and versatility. The stock pressure is on us as the manufacturer and the service and regular supply to your stores remains firmly our responsibility.
