Overview Summary
Product title: Vantec UGT-M2670 5-Port SATA III Expansion Card
The UGT-M2670 expansion card converts a single M.2 NVMe slot into five SATA III interfaces, making it ideal for building high-capacity storage systems or expanding existing desktops and servers. It supports up to 6 Gbps per port (backward compatible with SATA II/I) and is powered directly via the M.2 interface - meaning no extra power cables are required. Each SATA port includes an LED status indicator for drive activity and connection verification.
With compatibility for both SSD and HDD drives, this card is a flexible, plug-and-play expansion solution suitable for data storage, backup systems, media servers, or multi-drive RAID setups. Its compact form factor and simple installation make it a convenient upgrade for users needing extra SATA connectivity without bulky hardware.
What tier does this fall into?
Mid-range storage expansion
What is this best for?
Additional SATA drives, Media server storage, Bulk data storage, Backup arrays, Multi-drive systemsOverview
This M.2 PCIe Gen3x2 B+M Key to 5 ports SATA III Expansion Card is designed to use the M.2 NVMe slot on the motherboard to connect 5 SATA devices. It uses PCIe v3.0 with 2 lanes (B+M Key) to link to the 5 SATA devices. This will allow for even greater number of SATA III devices to be connected. It is Plug and Play, no additional software or drivers are required when using Windows 10/11. It is design to support SATA SSD or HDD for fast data transfer and clear LEDs indicators for each SATA port for disk activity. The Core chipset JMB585 manage the 5 SATA port with port multiplier and multiple commands for simultaneous sending/receiving data both in AHCI and legacy IDE mode. It also support TRIM to SSD and is able perform at a theoretical speed of 6Gbps.
Description
The Vantec UGT-M2670 expansion card is designed to convert a single M.2 NVMe slot on your motherboard into five standard SATA III 6 Gbps ports, allowing you to connect multiple SSDs or HDDs. Its M.2 PCIe Gen3x2 B+M Key interface ensures broad motherboard compatibility (with M.2 NVMe slots), and eliminates the need for external power - the card draws all required power via the M.2 connection. The card supports both AHCI and legacy IDE modes, and includes TRIM support for SSDs, ensuring efficient drive performance and longevity. Clear LED indicators for each port let you monitor drive activity and confirm connections at a glance.
This makes the UGT-M2670 particularly useful in builds where drive capacity and flexibility matter - for example, media servers, file storage servers, backup systems, or multi-drive workstations. Its small form factor and simple, plug-and-play installation make it an easy way to expand storage capabilities without bulky hardware or complex cable routing.
