Design and Build Quality
The physical construction of this keyboard prioritizes both aesthetics and longevity. The Series 5000 metal top plate is crafted from the same aluminum alloy used in jet aircraft, creating a sturdy platform that resists flexing even during vigorous gameplay. This robust frame supports the full 104-key layout with N-Key rollover capabilities, ensuring every keystroke is registered accurately without ghosting or interference. The keyboard includes anti-ghosting technology to guarantee 100% accuracy when pressing multiple keys simultaneously. Weighing in at 2.1 lbs, it offers a substantial feel that stays planted on the desk while maintaining a sleek profile with a height of 40.3 mm and a depth of 139.2 mm.

Switch Specifications
At the heart of the Apex 7 lies the SteelSeries QX2 mechanical RGB switch, designed for speed and precision. The red variant provides a smooth linear action ideal for rapid-fire gaming scenarios. Each switch boasts a total travel distance of 4 mm with an actuation point at 2 mm, allowing for quick responses with minimal finger movement. The force required to activate the keys is set at 45cN, offering a balanced resistance that reduces fatigue over long periods. These switches are engineered to withstand up to 50 million keypresses, ensuring reliable performance whether you are typing documents or engaging in competitive matches.

Connectivity and Software
The Apex 7 is designed for versatility across multiple platforms, supporting Windows, Mac OS X, Xbox, and PlayStation systems via a standard USB port. Configuration and customization are handled through the SteelSeries Engine software, which is widely recognized for its intuitive interface. Version 3.15 or newer is required on Windows (version 7 or later) and Mac OSX (version 10.11 or later). The software unlocks a library of tools including ImageSync, a programmable feature that allows users to create complex lighting effects in seconds. This ecosystem enables you to sync your keyboard with other SteelSeries gear for a cohesive visual experience.
