Freedom Stationary
Freedom Stationary
At a time of instability and uncertainty, Freedom Stationery committed itself to the empowerment and education of youth by manufacturing affordable scholastic material that was necessary for learning and distributing them widely in areas that needed it most.
The aspiration of Freedom Stationery to grow through the development of the community around it inspired an approach that would become the objective and slogan of the company: "Education for the Nation". Over the past three decades, Freedom Stationery has managed to evolve from a fledgling competitor into a respected leader in the industry, producing more than 100 million books every year.
Today, Freedom Stationery has five fully-fledged branches - in major centres such as Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein and East London - that allow for nationwide distribution and export into neighbouring countries in Southern Africa. With warehousing in excess of 100 000 m² throughout the country, Freedom Stationery has the capacity to address stationery needs on a national scale.
The growth of Freedom Stationery can be attributed in part to its willingness to break ground and expand its offering whilst retaining its objective to support education in the country. Since 2000, Freedom Stationery has invested in key plants, machinery and facilities of production that have allowed for a wider range of high-quality products and quick delivery to an even wider customer base spanning chain stores and independents.
The company also expanded itself through acquisition of brands, including Marlin - a brand of stationery that was purchased in 2003 and has become a key component of the business. Freedom Stationery's approach has always been to remain flexible and accommodating when it comes to both customers and staff. The company culture aims to treat employees and Freedom Stationery's loyal client base as an extended family.
While fostering this culture has produced excellent service and exceptional product, Freedom Stationery still aims to improve itself and its offering by further streamlining its approach and ensuring unparalleled customer satisfaction.
