The Rapid Trigger mechanism resets immediately upon key release, enabling rapid-fire inputs without waiting for the switch to fully reset. Protection Mode actively reduces accidental presses on keys adjacent to your primary input area, ensuring your commands are executed accurately even during intense moments. Additionally, Rapid Tap snaps your movement controls to your latest key press, which is particularly beneficial for strafing mechanics in shooter games.
Customization and Software
Control over this device is handled through the SteelSeries GG ecosystem including QuickSet and the Engine software suite. You can set up configurations in seconds that automatically launch with your game of choice. The onboard memory supports five custom profiles, meaning your settings are saved directly to the keyboard even when disconnected from a PC. An OLED Smart Display embedded in the top right corner allows you to view system stats or change settings on the fly without needing to open software.
The build quality of the SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 is designed to withstand heavy use over many years. The chassis features an aluminum frame that provides rigidity and a premium feel, while per-key lubrication ensures smooth keystrokes throughout the lifespan of the device. The keyboard includes rubber tri-level feet for height adjustment, allowing users to find their preferred typing angle comfortably.
