About this license
The Dell part number 634-BYKY corresponds to a Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Standard Edition license for 16 additional cores. This is a Reseller Option Kit (ROK) license, typically bundled with Dell hardware such as PowerEdge servers. It is not a full operating system license but an add-on to extend the core licensing of a server that already has a base license.
- Product Name: Dell Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Standard Edition - License - 16 Additional Core
- Part Number: 634-BYKY
- License Type: ROK (Reseller Option Kit)
- License Quantity: 16 additional cores
- Media/Key: No media or key included (OEM license)
- Availability: Available through authorized Dell resellers and distributors
Use case
This license is used to add 16 cores to a server that already has a base license. For example, if you have a server with a 16-core processor, you would need two 16-core licenses to fully license the server. This SKU is for the additional cores beyond the base license.
Important notes:
- ROK Licensing: ROK licenses are OEM licenses tied to specific hardware and are not transferable to other servers. They are typically pre-installed on Dell servers and are not sold separately.
- No Media/Key: As an OEM license, it does not come with installation media or a product key. The operating system is typically installed using Dell's Lifecycle Controller or other deployment tools.
- Region-Specific: Ensure that the license is valid for your region, as ROK licenses are often region-specific.
